Who’s Next? Non-Indigenous Cnidarian and Ctenophoran Species Approaching to the Italian Waters

The aims of the present paper were to review knowledge about Mediterranean non-indigenous species taxa Cnidaria and Ctenophora (CC NIS), screen risk 98 for their potential invasiveness in Sea approach Italian waters. Of these, 38% are well established basin, 4% known invasiveness, 44% casual, 11% have a taxonomic status unresolved, 3% included category ”cryptogenic”. biodiversity CC NIS has changed considerably last two decades 27 out Fifteen NIS, some equipped with high invasive potential, should be regarded as good candidates become future immigrants Anticipatory forecast based on biogeographical ecological analyses may provide useful tool targeted management issue assessment second descriptor Good Environmental Status. On other hand, conservation marine ecosystem essential environmental conditions functioning these ecosystems instead contamination or eradication alien species.
